Is the CAM logo worth it? Absolutely!
For Canadian moving companies, the CAM logo is more than a symbol—it’s a mark of trust, professionalism, and industry leadership. But with this privilege comes responsibility.
Recent updates to CAM’s logo usage rules make it clear: only registered CAM members in good standing may use the CAM logo, and this extends to every branch, franchise, or subsidiary. |
|
|
Sometimes, consumers file complaints with CAM when movers display the CAM logo but aren’t actually members. This often happens because a parent company—which is a member—uses the logo widely, even for unregistered branches. Consumers feel misled when they realize they didn’t hire a CAM member, leading to mistrust and difficult negotiations in claims. CAM then ends up in the middle of these disputes.
Quite often with quick expansion, as has been the case over the last 4 or 5 years, some members have had significant growing pains as they work out their network and capabilities and adjust their service accordingly. I’m sure that “get CAM branch memberships” isn’t on the top ten of the “to do” list, if it made it to the list at all.
But that CAM logo that is displayed through your parent office in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax or wherever, does not automatically cover all your operations. Similarly, the benefits that CAM extends to a registered head office member do not automatically extend to all its operations.
When all your branches are CAM members, you send a clear, unified message: every part of your operation upholds CAM’s code of ethics, insurance requirements, and service standards.
This consistency builds trust with customers and sets you apart from competitors who can’t offer the same assurance.
Each registered branch enjoys the full suite of CAM advantages:
• Referrals and directory listings (with over 13,000 visits a month to our website, that’s worth it alone!)
• Training, certification, and professional development (including the very popular – and free – “Training for Helpers” and “Packing and Unpacking” videos
• Networking, advocacy, and business development resources
• Use of CAM trademarks in marketing
• Access to government and corporate RFPs that require CAM membership
With membership, every branch, regardless of size or location, gains equal access to CAM’s resources, support, and industry connections. This strengthens your entire operation and ensures every team member is equipped to deliver the best possible service.
If you’re proud to display the CAM logo at your main office, extend that credibility to every branch. Registering all your operations as CAM members isn’t just about compliance, nor is it just a cash grab by CAM—it’s about maximizing your company’s reputation, opportunity, and customer confidence.
Let’s work together to uphold the standards that make CAM membership a true mark of excellence in the moving industry. |

Use of CAM Brand
The CAM office has received several questions and concerns from our membership and consumers regarding the use of our trademarked CAM and ACD logos.
Feedback is invaluable to us, and it highlights our shared commitment to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the Canadian Association of Movers/Association canadienne des déménageurs.
To ensure clarity and consistency—and to best serve our members and the public—the Board of Directors has recently reviewed and clarified the rules around the usage of the CAM and ACD logos. The graphic below outlines updated guidelines for how and when our logos can be used, with the goal of protecting our collective brand while supporting your efforts to promote your membership.
We encourage you to do two things:
1. Review these rules and reach out to the CAM administration with any questions or for further guidance.
2. Verify your CAM membership and member details by browsing your listing (and your branch’s listing/s) by location through our Find A Professional Mover function or by name in our Member Directory. Let us know if you do not find your listing or your branch’s listing. Only active CAM members and their branches whose membership fee payments are up to date are authorized to use and or display CAM’s brand.
Companies found to be displaying CAM’s brand without authorization or membership will be asked to remove those unauthorized logos or references to CAM.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to upholding the highest standards in our industry. |

Calgary’s Best Moves Inc. Joins CAM |
|
|
Founded in Calgary, Best Moves started with one truck, two movers, and a commitment to doing things right. “We've grown steadily into one of Alberta and British Columbia’s most trusted moving companies, handling everything from local apartment relocations to complex long-distance moves across provinces,” says owner Max Pylypenko. |
|
|
“What sets us apart is our people-first approach - not just with clients, but with our team. By creating a supportive, respectful work environment, we help our movers stay motivated, professional, and proud of the service they deliver. We’re also big believers in community. Whether it’s through fair treatment, consistent service, or simply showing up with care, we try to leave every customer, and every neighbourhood, a little better off than when we arrived. We believe the moving industry deserves a strong reputation, and like many others, we’re working hard to uphold that standard every day.”
Becoming a member of CAM is an exciting step for Best Moves. “We look forward to connecting with, supporting, and learning from others in the network. We are glad to be here!”

How Virtual Estimates are Redefining the Moving Process |
|
|
James Hatfield, Chief Revenue Officer at CAM Supplier LiveSwitch penned this unpublished article exploring how virtual estimates are driving innovation and increasing efficiency in the industry. It’s hard to believe that in five short years, before virtual estimates became mainstream, moving companies relied almost exclusively on in-home visits. It just goes to show how dynamic and essential technology has become in our industry.
It’s a quick read—why not check it out?

Canada's Economy Holds Strong Amid Uncertainty Madeincanada.ca, June 17, 2025 |
|
|
A CBC News article reported that Canada’s economy surprised experts by growing at an annualized rate of 2.2% in the first quarter of the year—beating expectations despite challenges at home. The boost was largely driven by export activity, particularly as U.S. companies ramped up purchases ahead of American tariffs on Canadian goods. However, under the surface, signs of strain were visible, with weaker household spending, slowing domestic demand, and a growing reliance on inventory build-up. |
|
|
Key Takeaways:
• Canada’s GDP rose by 2.2% in Q1, exceeding expectations of 1.7%.
• Growth was largely fuelled by exports, as U.S. buyers stockpiled ahead of tariffs.
• Domestic demand, household spending, and business investment showed weakness.
• March saw modest growth (0.1%), bouncing back from a 0.2% dip in February.
• The mining, oil and gas, and construction sectors helped drive March’s recovery.
• This economic update comes just ahead of the Bank of Canada’s interest rate decision.
Why It Matters to Canadians:
While the top-line numbers appear encouraging, the uneven nature of this growth suggests deeper economic pressures at home. Tariff uncertainty, sluggish consumer spending, and stalled domestic demand could create headwinds in the months ahead.
As Canadians, it’s a reminder of the importance of supporting our industries, diversifying trade relationships, and staying informed about how global politics—especially decisions made in Washington—can ripple through our economy. Despite the noise, Canada continues to show resilience, and that’s something worth celebrating and protecting. |

U.S. Department of Defense Cancels Global Household Goods Contract Federal News Network, June 18, 2025
On June 18, 2025, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced that it was canceling the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) for cause saying that HomeSafe Alliance had demonstrated an "inability to fulfill their obligations."
The GHC was a major initiative by the DOD to overhaul and modernize the process of moving household goods for military and Coast Guard personnel and their families. The contract aimed to address long-standing issues and cumbersome claims processes by appointing a single move manager—HomeSafe Alliance—to coordinate all aspects of the relocation, including packing, shipping, storage, and delivery, using a network of commercial moving companies.
The GHC was valued at up to $17.9 billion (USD) over nine years and intended to improve service quality through enhanced communication, digital management systems, and simplified claims. Although the contract was awarded in November 2021, legal challenges and process delays postponed its implementation, with the initial phase-in beginning in April 2024.
Each year, the U.S. military and Coast Guard oversee the relocation of approximately 300,000 to 400,000 military families, including both domestic and international moves. |

Quebec’s Écocamionnage program returns with increased $415-million budget Trucknews.ca, June 23, 2025
The unveiling of Quebec’s 2025-2030 Green Economy Implementation Plan in mid June confirmed that the Écocamionnage program has been relaunched with a budget of $415 million over five years.
This represents an $85-million increase over the previous program, which was temporarily suspended last September, a victim of its own success, as the budgeted amounts had all been allocated. |

Truckers Against Trafficking
Established in 2009, Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) started with a simple yet powerful belief: that every truck driver can be a crucial ally in the fight against human trafficking.
Since then, TAT has grown to encompass a greater portion of the transportation industry, and raised awareness about trafficking, who it targets and its signs, and equipped individuals to take action whenever their lives intersect with it and its victims.
There are four main scenarios in which moving companies may be exposed to human trafficking. One red flag on its own may not mean anything, but if you are noticing multiple red flags or other parts of the story don’t add up, please make an immediate and anonymous call to the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010 (CAN) or 1-888-3737-888 (US). If you are witnessing a crime in progress, please call 911.
TAT recognize that movers are not social workers, nor are they asking you to be. But if things don’t add up and multiple red flag indicators are present, please take a second look and be willing to make a call.
Join TAT as they work to dismantle trafficking networks and bring perpetrators to justice.
Read about the red flags here.

Employee Miscommunication Will Cost You Memberlounge.app and other resources
One of the biggest communication myths? Thinking communication has happened just because you sent something.
Miscommunication costs the U.S. economy $1.2 trillion a year. In Canada, it is on scale. Poor communication costs companies approximately $12,506 per employee per year based on an average loss of 7.47 hours per week.
Here’s what it looks like:
• You send an email → no one reads it → you resend → now you’re a broken record.
• You share a bold new idea in a meeting → everyone nods → no one acts.
• You send out an update → it’s just background noise.
People are busy. Messages don’t always land. To fix that, here is a simple trick you can use with your team called the Back Brief.
When you give a key update, don’t end the conversation there. Ask your team to quickly repeat back in 2 or 3 sentences:
• What they heard.
• What they’ll do.
The catch? Once people know you’ll ask for a Back Brief, they start paying more attention. And if their summary misses the point—you get a second chance to clarify.
It’s as simple as that.
Clearer communication = better decisions, less waste, and stronger engagement. Small habits, big payoff.

2 Policy Essentials to Follow
Infinit-I Workforce Solutions
Here are a few policy basics that could save you from future lawsuits. Thanks to CAM Member Infinit-I Workforce Solutions for the information.
#1. Don’t have a policy if you’re not going to enforce it. That goes for everyone in the company, from driver to owner. It’s an easy place plaintiff attorneys can look for negligence. Nothing screams “I don’t care about the safety of our community” to a jury like a documented safety policy that wasn’t enforced.
#2. Make sure every employee has been given the current policies. If it’s not documented and you can’t find it, it didn’t happen. How many times have you heard “nobody told me” from a driver or other employee? It’s another issue we see pop up in lawsuits and it’s hard to fight unless you have documentation.
