The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept 30th) – A Day to Reflect

OPBA

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is September 30th and was first established in 2013.

The OPBA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee encourages our members to take time on this day and every day to reflect. Reflect on how Indigenous Peoples have been impacted by Canada’s settler colonial policies since European contact. Reflect on the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous children, many of whom lay in unmarked, undiscovered graves at Residential School properties across what is now known as Canada. Reflect on the torture many endured, the sexual assaults, and the disconnection from their families and their lands. Reflect on Phyllis Webstad, the six-year-old whose personal clothing, including a new orange shirt, was taken from her and never returned.

Congratulations to our NIGP 2024 Award Winners

Empowering Municipal Procurement with Modern Technology Solutions

SPONSORED CONTENT

As technology continues to permeate every aspect of our lives, its impact on public sector procurement—particularly at the municipal level—is profound and far-reaching.

When it comes to procuring goods, municipalities everywhere have unique considerations that set them apart from other public sector groups making significant purchases. Cities and towns, which purchase everything from traffic equipment to construction materials, must abide by their own bylaws and procurement policies when reviewing tenders and evaluating bids. As stewards of taxpayer monies, transparency throughout the entire process is also key.
